When a boat belongs to one affinity, the workshops run all week, the dinner talk is all cast-ons and colourwork, and the person beside you at the rail is already a friend. Edition No. 1 is the first of a curated series — a first printing, chartered for makers who travel.

Aboard, Margit runs every session herself — cast-on for absolute first-timers in the morning, steeking for the fearless in the afternoon. She believes a good teacher meets you exactly where your hands are, and that the best patterns are learned beside someone, not from a screen.

Before you
cast on
01I’ve barely cast on. Am I in over my head?
Not at all. A learn-to-knit table runs every afternoon, and Margit teaches complete beginners as gladly as she teaches lace veterans. Bring willing hands; the rest is provided.
02Can I book a cabin on my own?
Yes. A share of cabins is set aside for solo travellers, and single occupancy is available on request. Most people arrive alone and leave with a group.
03What should I pack — and what’s aboard?
Your welcome kit includes yarn, needles, and the Edition pattern. Bring current projects and comfortable layers for mornings ashore. The ship keeps a small library of tools and reference books.
04Is it definitely the Danube?
The Danube is our working route for Edition No. 1. Ports may be finalised nearer to sailing, and the river could shift to the Rhine — either way, the seven-day pattern and the company stay the same.
05How do I get to the ship?
The charter begins and ends in accessible European cities with major airports. Once you enquire, we send a simple travel note with recommended flights and arrival timings.
